Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the MeNutrition mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, and shares information. MeNutrition helps you read restaurant menus and home-cooked meals and track your nutrition. We do not sell your personal data.
Information you provide
Your profile (such as age, height, weight, goals, dietary preferences and allergens), the meals you log, your weight history, and any photos you save are stored on your device. If you sign in with Apple or Google, this data can also be backed up to your private account so it survives a reinstall or new phone. When you do, we receive your email and name (with Apple, this may be a private relay address) solely to attach this backup to your account; we never see your password — sign-in is handled by Apple, Google and Firebase. This information is used only to power the App’s features for you. It is never shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Menu & food photos
When you scan a menu or a meal, the image is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to recognize dishes and estimate nutrition. The request goes through our own proxy server (Cloudflare), which only relays it to the provider and stores no data of its own. Photos are processed to return results and are not used to identify you. See OpenAI’s privacy policy.
Shared dish & menu database
To make scanning faster and cheaper, recognised dish names, their descriptions and nutrition estimates, and menu text are saved to a shared database (Google Firebase) and reused for everyone. A dish another person has already scanned can be returned to you instantly without a new AI request. This shared data is anonymous — it is never linked to you or your device, and contains no personal information.
Approximate location
If you grant location access, we use your approximate area to add local context to menus (currency, regional dishes) and to label history entries. You can deny or revoke this in your device Settings at any time; the App keeps working without it.
Health & activity data
If you connect Apple Health, we read your activity — steps, floors climbed, distance, exercise minutes and active energy — to estimate your activity level and tailor your calorie budget. We also use the device motion sensor (step counter) for the same purpose. This data is processed on your device, is never sold or shared, and is never used for advertising. You can disconnect access anytime in iOS Settings → Health; the App keeps working without it.
Analytics & tracking
We use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, in aggregate and anonymously. We never collect this data until you allow tracking through the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track,” analytics collection stays off. We do not link analytics to your identity or share it for cross-app advertising. See Firebase/Google privacy.
Subscriptions & payments
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
How we share data
- Service providers that process data to make the App work: OpenAI (dish recognition), Cloudflare (request proxy), Google Firebase (analytics, authentication, backup, shared dish database).
- Legal & safety: when required by law, or to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.
Other than the above, we do not share your personal data.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the App. You can delete your logged data inside the App at any time, and delete your account and its backup directly in the App (Premium tab → your account → Delete account). You can also contact us at the email below.
Children’s privacy
MeNutrition is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at the email below.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
