🥤 Diet Cola
Diet cola is a carbonated soft drink with the familiar cola flavor, sweetened with non-nutritive sweeteners instead of sugar. It is fizzy, sweet and slightly tangy, with almost no calories per can. It is served ice-cold, straight from the can or bottle or poured over ice, often with a slice of lemon or lime.

What it is made of
Recipe
Ingredients
- 330 ml chilled diet cola
- Ice cubes
- 1 slice lemon or lime (optional)
Method
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Pour the cola slowly to keep the fizz.
- Add a slice of lemon or lime and serve at once.
How to make it lighter
- A 330 ml can has close to zero calories, so it can replace a regular cola, which carries around 140 kcal.
- Watch what it is paired with: the calories at a fast-food meal come from the food, not the drink.
- Alternate with plain or sparkling water to keep overall fluid intake simple.
History
Sugar-free colas appeared in the United States in the second half of the 20th century as demand for low-calorie drinks grew. Today diet and zero-sugar colas are sold almost everywhere in the world.
