Ideal weight calculator · Me Nutrition

Estimates for healthy adults. Not medical advice — if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18 or have a medical condition, ask your doctor or dietitian.

How it is calculated

The calculator uses the BMI range of 18.5–24.9, which the WHO classes as healthy weight for adults. It turns that range into kilograms or pounds for your height: weight = BMI × height² (in metres).

The mid-range reference uses a BMI of about 22. It is only a point inside the healthy range, not a target you must reach.

BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat, so very muscular people may weigh more than the range and still be healthy. If you are pregnant, under 18 or have a medical condition, ask your doctor what weight is right for you.

Questions

Is there one ideal weight?

No. Healthy weight is a range, and it depends on height, build, age and health. That is why the calculator shows a range.

Does it work for men and women?

The BMI range used here is the same for adult men and women. Body composition differs between people, so treat the result as a guide.

I weigh more than the range but I train a lot. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily. BMI does not separate muscle from fat. Waist size and a doctor's opinion give a fuller picture.

How can I reach a healthy weight?

Small, steady changes in what you eat and how active you are work best. Our weight loss calculator shows how long a goal takes at a realistic pace.
